Dark spots or increased pigmentation (hyperpigmentation) is a condition that occurs when excess melanocytes are deposited on the skin. Melanocytes are cells containing melanin which often gives skin its colour. It can affect all skin types and is commonly seen on the face, hands and even body.

How does it work?
At DRV Skin, we tailor the treatment plan for pigmentation depending on the needs of each patient. This may include the use of topical treatments and skin peels, mixed with laser treatments as well. The topical treatments help lighten the skin, while the laser treatments focus specifically on the darker patches whilst not affecting the surrounding skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our doctor, initially evaluates each patient going through your past medical history including past treatments. This is extremely important, to ascertain the cause for the pigmentation and the proposed treatment plan needed. You will then leave with a tailored treatment regime which may include the use of topical creams, peels and laser treatments over a period of time including reviews.
There can be mild to moderate side effects including redness, swelling, scabbing or even blistering. These usually subside in a few days to up to a week. Sometimes pigmentation may become lighter than the surrounding skin or also darker straight after treatment. It often takes between 4 to 6 weeks before the true results are seen.
